“A sacrament is a visible sign of an invisible reality.”

Baptism

Baptism is the first sacrament of Christian initiation. It is the sacrament that frees a person from original sin and makes that person a member of Christ and His Church. One must be baptized before sharing in any of the other sacraments. Baptism is the foundation for all ministry and life in the church, and confers a commitment to follow Christ and spread his message throughout the world. Here at St. André Bessette, Baptisms may be scheduled by calling the Parish Office. Baptisms are typically held on the third Sunday of the month. Parents and Godparents are required to attend a Baptism preparation class prior to the reception of the sacrament.

Reconciliation

Private Confessions is heard on Saturdays at 3:00 pm
Special Appointments may also be made by calling the Parish Office.

Eucharist (Holy Communion)

The Eucharist is the sacrament by which Catholics receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. For Catholics, this is the most treasured gift given to the Church by the Lord at the Last Supper. In receiving the Eucharist, we are nourished by the Lord. The bread and wine used in the Mass are transformed in all but appearance into the Body and Blood of Christ.  To learn more about this sacrament please contact our Faith Formation Director at 313.398.2158

Confirmation

Confirmation enriches the baptized with the Holy Spirit, binding them more perfectly to the Church, and strengthening them in their witness to Christ by word and deed.  To learn more about this Sacrament, please contact our Faith Formation Director at 313.398.2158

Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament through which Christ calls men to serve His Church as deacons, priests, and bishops. Through the laying on of hands and the power of the Holy Spirit, they are configured to Christ and entrusted with preaching the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments, and shepherding God’s people. If you are someone you know feels they have a vocation to the priesthood or permanent diaconate please reach out to a Parish Priest.
